Why publish startup ideas?

Why publish startup ideas if I someday hope to be a founder myself? Won’t someone steal them?

First, I believe that successfully running a company is 5% idea and 95% execution. Execution is so difficult and often occurs over such a long time horizon that its importance dwarfs the strength of the initial idea. In addition, many new companies pivot one or more times before arriving at their final product or service.

Second, I’m early in my career and not ready to start a company myself. For now, I value the feedback on ideas and concepts such as these far more than the generated idea.

Want to steal one of these and try it? Go ahead! And drop me an email so I can stay in the loop with how things are going – I’d be interested to know.

Lastly, if your company is already tackling one of these challenges, send me a note via email. I’d like to give credit where credit is due.
